DiscusWare's remote backup service gives you peace of mind by ensuring that your data is backed up regularly and stored in a location outside of your server's own disks.

How does it work?

Each day, we automatically log in to your server, create a backup of your important files, and transfer them to a secure server on our network for safekeeping. You do not need to do anything - everything happens automatically. You will even get an e-mail message each time the backup is made, confirming that it was successful. Each message will inform you of the amount of data transferred and your total storage utilization on our backup server.

How am I protected?

DiscusWare's remote backup service protects your data in all these unfortunate but all-too-common situations:

Accidential file deletion
Server hardware failure (e.g. hard drive crash)
Server security compromise (hackers, viruses)
Web hosting company going out of business

We can protect Discus discussion data, MySQL database data, and non-Discus data (e.g. the files associated with your website).

Backup Retention

We retain the following backup levels to allow you to restore more easily to a specific point in time:

Daily backup for the past 7 days
Weekly backup for the past 5 weeks
Monthly backup for the past 3 months

Pricing - Backup Service

Pricing is based on your total storage consumed on our backup server, measured at the end of each month. DiscusWare offers convenient, automated credit card billing.

Restore Service

When you request a restore, DiscusWare will provide you with a "zip" archive of the files you have requested, or in the case of a Discus Professional discussion board, a "tar" file for use with the Backup Manager.

One restore per quarter (three consecutive months) is included free of additional charge. Additional restores within that period are available for a service charge of $24.95 (0-2 GB restore size) or $49.95 (>2 GB).

DiscusWare also offers professional services (quoted on a per-incident basis) should you need us to help you put the files back onto your server, or to fix or reinstall a damaged discussion board.
